Prasiolite is a quartz and 6 - 6 1/2 on the Mohs scale. It is almost always heat treated so avoiding sun will maintain the color. Prasiolite is a leek green, sometimes called green amethyst. It is a peaceful stone that is useful for meditation and healing in general. It is tied to the solar plexus
